Christmas Jumper Day 2023

Get your Christmas jumpers ready! On Thursday 7th December, we are joining in with schools across the country in celebrating Christmas Jumper Day and raising money for Save the Children.   Every pound we raise will go towards helping children in the UK and across the world to get the best future possible. Watch this video

All we need to do is bring £1-2 (suggested minimum donation), wear your Christmas jumper on 7th December (the rest is the normal school uniform!) and we will be making a difference to children’s lives.

Get in the true Christmas spirit!

  --------------------------------------------------

Thank you to everyone that completed our short Autumn term survey which was focused on Behaviour.  Over 450 parents completed this.  The results of this will be shared with you later this month.

Make Smoking History – What Will You Miss? Quit today

ratio

A hard-hitting quit smoking campaign has been launched this week.  The ‘What Will You Miss’ campaign is running on TV, radio and social media.  It has the stark message that up to two in three smokers will die early if they don’t quit, data suggests.  It comes as the Government has launched a UK-wide consultation on its stopping the start plan. This aims to continually raise the age at which people can smoke to stop young people taking it up.

Student Services

We are always open to support all students between 8:45am and 3:30pm. The best times for students to drop in are:

11:10-11:25am - Breaktime
1:30-1:55pm - Lunchtime
3:00-3:15pm - After School

If students need to attend during lesson time they must remember to register with their teacher and collect the orange lanyard before they come.

As you can imagine, we welcome a large number of students on a daily basis. We, therefore, thought it may be useful to share with you the expectations of Student Services. We would be grateful if you could take a moment to discuss these with your child.

Basics Food Bank Appeal - Christmas 2023!

It is that time of year again for the Basics Bank Food Bank Appeal where we ask staff and students to donate food items to local families who are in need this Christmas.

It is really important that the right items are selected from the list provided and that all items are collected for your year group’s donation day. So, please take a look at the following slides that include all the important information you will need - click here.

This is a House competition and we are super keen to beat our total of 2785 items that we donated last year, which is around 45 items per tutor group. If everyone brought in 2 or more items we would smash that!

What Parents & Carers Need to Know about TikTok

TikTok is a free social media platform that lets users create, share and watch short videos ranging anywhere from 15 seconds to 10 minutes in duration. The app gained notoriety for its viral dances, trends and celebrity cameos and can be a creative, fun platform for teens to enjoy. Now available in 75 languages, it has more than a billion active users worldwide (as of spring 2022) and is most popular with the under-16 age bracket. In fact, a 2022 Ofcom report found TikTok to be the most-used social media platform for posting content, particularly among young people aged 12 to 17.
