The Student Services office is a safe space for all students to come and report any incidents or concerns by writing statements. You may have a time table query, a problem with your uniform or you just need time out. We are here to help and listen. When you come to our office we ask you to sign in on our Ipad, this is so if you need further support it is documented and we will catch up with you a couple of weeks after your visit.
You will see us roaming around the school making sure everyone is where they should be. We do this by supporting Teachers when needed, this could be escorting a student to our R&R room, guiding students back to lessons, monitoring the toilets and areas that are out of bounds.
We want every Student to feel valued, supported, heard and safe at Wildern School. Look out for our new Student Hub opening soon...

Geography Awareness Week 2024 is an annual event that celebrates the importance of geography and its impact on our lives which runs from the 18th of November to the 22nd of November. The aim of the week is to raise awareness about the importance of geography and the vast array of links to the world around us with a focus on encouraging people to explore the world around them and to delve deeper into understanding the interconnectedness of issues happening not just within our local area, but around the globe.
When people think of Geography, they think of ‘colouring’ and ‘memorising capitals’
But this week serves as a reminder that geography is so much more than this. Giving students the ability to develop and grow their geographical knowledge is so important to help them understand their links to people, places and the complex links to the wider environment.
We are encouraging students to become well rounded individuals who have the ability to be aware of the challenges that stretch beyond the UK, exploring challenges like climate change, urban planning and the management of resources. It allows students to appreciate diversity by learning about different cultures and perspectives helping our students to become more empathetic and understanding.
At Wildern, we’ve marked Geography Awareness Week with our Geography Club members creating detailed world maps using rice, honing their spatial awareness and artistic skills to create their own representation of the place they live.
Things you can do to celebrate the week:
- Learn about a new country or culture by reading a book or watching a documentary
- Use social media to share information about the importance of Geography or share photos and videos about different places you have been too
- Get outside and visit a new place- go for a walk in the forest, visit one of our local beaches and take time exploring nature!
Geography Awareness Week is a time to celebrate the power of geography in shaping our understanding of the world.

Staying safe on the roads
We have been working with all students to consider how they travel safely to and from school. We are aware some a cycling on pavements and do not always move over when approaching pedestrians.
If your child cycles to and from school, please talk to them abut only being on pacements when they have a signed cycle paths and being considerate to others using these paths. Please talk with your child about how it can come across to strangers when they cycle towards them on the pavement and how that might make the pedestrians feel.
Please also ensure your child can be seen when they are travelling to and from school.
