Parent Information Evenings - Spring Term
|
Every academic year we host a number of information evenings for parents across the school on a whole range of important and relevant topics. Last year we asked you what you would like to attend and the response was really positive, suggesting more on mental health, SEND and literacy amongst other things.
These evenings are on the whole well attended, but a few have had to be postponed due to lack of numbers. We agree that these are really important events, so would like as much take up as possible so we can address some of the things you are most keen to know about the school and your teenagers!
Please find below the list of Parents’ Information Evenings occurring this term, if you wish to attend any, click on the links to sign up and we will see you there! If you would like to attend a session then please register your interest using the links below to visit the Eventbrite page and book your place. We look forward to welcoming as many parents as possible to what we hope will be a helpful and informative evenings.

Requests for leave of absence Parents are requested to avoid taking holidays in term time. If exceptional leave is required then a ‘Request to authorise absence from school due to exceptional circumstances’ form must be completed. The completed form should be received at least a week before the period for which you are seeking authorisation. The completed form setting out your reasons must be returned to Reception - If you are requesting absence for an exceptional reason, the school may ask for evidence to support this (e.g letter/invitation). The form can be found on the school website here. The Raise trust attendance policy can be found here.

Rewards We have updated our eref milestone rewards and shared this information with all students this week. Students who have already met these milestones have not missed out and are still receiving their rewards.
Alongside their reward students will also receive an animated email congratulating them on the number of erefs they have earned. The eref score report comes into the main office fortnightly so rewards do not arrive instantly and are with students as soon as possible. Bigger reward events such as the Headteacher’s lunch will take place when a number of students have hit this threshold.

Wildern Lane roadworks and closures
|
We have been informed that there will be roadworks taking place on Wildern Lane between January 21st and January 27th inclusive. These will take place in the school day, starting at 9am and finishing at 2:30pm each day.
Although these times are not peak travel times for school, they will still have the potential to cause disruption so please plan your journeys and use the park and stride locations at B&Q car park, Pavillion car park or either of the car parks in the Village to arrange alternative pick up spots to minimise traffic on Wildern Lane.
Additionally, Westward Road will also have carriage repair works that start on Monday 20th January and are expected to take up to 4 days to complete. During this time the road will be closed from approximately 07:30 - 18:00 hrs but will be open outside of these hours.

A message from Mrs Buckley and Mrs Parsons, our two First Aiders at Wildern
We are qualified first aiders who support students' wellbeing and health. We administer daily medication and monitor ongoing health care needs, from complex to minor illnesses. Should your child feel unwell at school or has sustained an injury, we will assess them, and call home should we feel it necessary.
Our top illness is Headache. Even mild dehydration can cause a headache, so please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day. If you have any concerns regarding your child's health and wellbeing, please contact the First Aid team.

Top Tips for Creating Family Rules for Using Devices
Most modern-day families probably use a multitude of devices at home. Sometimes, such devices are used more often by the children of the household, with many smartphones, laptops, consoles and the like being exclusively enjoyed by the younger members of the family. However, between the online safety risks that come with this technology and the physical, emotional and mental impacts of overuse, it can be a good idea to set some ground rules for the sake of children’s wellbeing.
Agreeing rules around the use of tech in the home can sometimes pose a challenge, and it can be difficult to know what's reasonable, what might be a step too far, and what doesn’t go far enough. That’s why we’ve created this free safety guide, offering you top-level advice on how to successfully think up and enforce rules for using devices.
